Bournemouth defender Charlie Daniels has revealed that the club would gladly welcome Chelsea’s Nathan Ake if he makes a return to the Cherries. The Sun newspaper reportedly linked the Cherries with a £20 million move for the Dutch man over the weekend.

Nathan Ake played his part for Bournemouth in his loan spell at the club. He contributed to the Cherries’ garnering of 6 six significant points last season in 10 games played. He made 8 starts and 2 sub appearances for Bournemouth before his return to Chelsea.

He scored the winner for Stoke City in a 1 nil win away from home and also provided the winner in a scintillating encounter against Liverpool in which Bournemouth were 3:1 down at a point. Bournemouth equalized the game before Ake proceeded to score the winner and make it 4:3 in favor of the Cherries in an entertaining encounter at the Vitality Stadium.

He scored his last goal before departure in a 3:1 away loss to Southampton. According to reports, Eddie Howe failed in a bid to land the defender on a permanent deal on the final day of the January transfer window albeit the interest has remained going by the recently reported transfer developments.

However, Charlie Daniels would love to see the 22-year-old defender back in a Bournemouth jersey even though it would result in tough competition for places in the Cherries back four. Who wouldn’t want such luxury? In an interview with Daily Echo, he opined:

“I thought he was a very good acquisition for us last season.

“It was a shame he had to go back to Chelsea when he did. He was a great person to have in the squad and he scored some important goals for us.

“We would welcome him back with open arms.

“You can go one of two ways when the manager brings in a new player. You can throw in the towel or you can knuckle down, work hard and do everything you can to keep your place in the team.

“That is the way I have always approached it. If new players do come in, I am sure all the lads will be exactly the same.

“As a back four, we are not ready to give up yet. The gaffer will be looking to improve, we know that, and it will be down to us to make sure we are in the starting XI next season.”

After Ake made his return to Chelsea, he made just 1 Premier League start for the club while Bournemouth proceeded to finish 9th on the League table with the impressive displays they put up.
