Arsene Wenger must make decision on Mustafi who must pass a fitness test to participate in the final
Arsenal may miss the services of one of their key defenders in the FA Cup final against Chelsea at Wembley. Arsenal Manager Arsene Wenger is facing the likelihood of making an uneasy decision on the fitness and availability of defender Shkodran Mustafi for the game.
According to reports, the German International suffered from symptoms of a concussion after their 2 nil win against Sunderland, which resulted in him missing the final game of the season for the club against Everton.
Reports indicate that Mustafi will be put through late fitness test procedures to ascertain his fitness and availability for the game. The FA regulations prohibit a player from being risked in a game unless he has fully overcome every manner of concussion symptoms. Therefore, Wenger must make a decision with the assistance of the Arsenal medical team before Saturday’s final.
The defender’s absence will be a huge miss for Arsenal as they already have the suspension of Koscielny to contend with after being sent off for a bad tackle in their last game against Everton, as well Gabriel Paulista who is also injured.
Per Mertesacker, who is the captain of the side is expected to be risked in the lineup and deployed in a 3 man backline although he featured in jut 1 Premier League game which was against Everton.
