Chelsea manager Antonio Conte has disclosed that Ross Barkley will have to wait to make his official debut for Chelsea ahead of the first leg of the Carabao Cup semi-final fixture against Arsenal. He also disclosed that Eden Hazard is fit and raring to go for the game at Stamford Bridge.

Chelsea concluded a 15 million Pounds deal that saw Barkley move to the blue side of London from the blue side of Merseyside, Everton last Friday. Barkley had his first training session on Saturday before joining up with the full squad on Monday.

The English midfielder is yet to play a game this season but resumed training a fortnight ago before the Chelsea move, although he’ll play no part in Wednesday’s game according to Conte.

Whilst speaking to reporters on Tuesday at the club’s Cobham training ground. Conte said:

“Tomorrow night is very soon for him. We must be pleased because his physical condition is good and he is starting to have the training session with us and understand our idea of football.

“We must be pleased, but he needs a bit of time. His condition is good, very good. I don’t know [when he might play]. But I am very positive, he is a good guy and is showing a great will to work and desire to help us very soon.

“This is very positive and I am very happy to have Ross with us for the rest of the season.”

Speaking on Hazard, who missed out on the side’s goalless draw away to Norwich in the FA Cup due to a calf problem, Conte said:

“Hazard is in a good condition, He is in contention for tomorrow’s game”
