Chelsea’s reported interest in Monaco’s star midfielder Tiemoue Bakayoko could see the club include Belgium’s Michy Batshuayi in a deal to get the midfielder to Stamford Bridge this summer according to reports. The 22-year-old midfielder was an integral part of Leonardo Jardim’s Monaco’s squad in all competitions last season.
Tiemoue Bakayoko made a whopping 51 appearances in all competitions and was a consistent and impressive performer in midfield for the French outfit, as he contributed to the club’s win of their first French Ligue 1 title in 17 years. He also played a major role as they progressed to the last 4 of the 2016/2017 UEFA Champions League against all odds.
Tiemoue Bakayoko’s impact caught the eyes of some English clubs with Chelsea and Manchester United at the forefront of the line of English clubs that are reportedly interested in his signature.
Reports from Buzz Sport claim that Monaco will be willing to let go of the midfielder if their valuation of £30m can be met by the intending buyers as they would prefer not to sell Bakayoko to any of their domestic rivals
The news outfit also suggests that Chelsea could entice Monaco by adding Batshuayi to their offer so they can tie up the deal. The Belgian striker arrived at Stamford Bridge last season in a £33m deal but struggled to get games under his belt as he was mostly used as a substitute.
He made 20 Premier League appearances last season with only one as a starter. The Belgian has also insisted he is not prepared to spend another year on the Chelsea bench as he has next summer’s World Cup in mind.
“Everyone knows that I have to play more, that I have to score goals,” Batshuayi said.
“There’s a World Cup coming up next year. I want to be ready for the World Cup.”
