Kylian Mbappe is one of the hottest youngsters to emerge from the French Ligue 1 in recent years and has been the target of some of the major heavyweights in European club football. However, Monaco are trying all means to make sure the Frenchman stays put with the club.
The likes of Man United, Real Madrid and Man City have reportedly indicated interest in the youngster who has had a phenomenal season which culminated in Monaco’s triumph in the French Ligue 1, wrestling the title away from the grips of PSG as well as a decent outcome in their 2016/2017 UCL participation as they reached the semis.
However, Monaco’s vice-president Vasilyev has expressed the club’s desire to honor the youngster’s wishes whilst they consider any approaches from other clubs for the services of the player.
“We will take stock after the season, but it is our intention that he stays,” Vasilyev revealed to Le10Sport.
“We will do everything we can to keep him.”
“It depends on the club, but also the will of the player and I hope he will make the right choice to stay with us.
“I have not had discussions with any club because what the player wants is the priority.”
Monaco effectively won the Ligue 1 title on Wednesday with a 2 nil home win over Saint-Etienne with Mbappe opening the scoring, his 26th in all competitions this season and substitute Valere Germain rounding up the victory with the second.
Vasilyev added: “Monaco has been waiting 17 years for this title, It is exceptional and we are proud. Good work always pays off.”
“We were in Ligue 2 four years ago and I did not imagine that we could get here in such a short time.”
