Germany manager Joachim Loew has disclosed that Shkodran Mustafi may be facing a long spell on the sidelines after he suffered what seemed a thigh jnjury during the international break.
The Germany and Arsenal FC centerback had to be aided off the pitch in the 35th minute of Germany’s game against Azerbaijan on Sunday which ended in a 5 goals to 1 win for the Germans.
Mustafi was heavily linked with a departure from the Emirates in the course of the summer transfer window, but has been impressive in Arsenal’s games so far. He will definitely be a big miss for the Wenger tutored side.
“With Mustafi it seems that it is some muscle tear or some muscle fibre tear,” according to the London Evening Standard’s quote of Joachim Loew after the match. “In any case it could force him to a longer break.”
However, the club will be carrying out their own assessment of the player before any accurate timeframe can be placed on his potential absence from the side, although a muscle tear which is highly suspected will put the player on the sidelines for a long while.
Stats have revealed that Arsenal has won more games with Mustafi in the starting lineup than in his absence. The ratio is currently 61.3% in his presence, and 57.1% in his absence from kick off.
