Barcelona defender Gerard Pique has slammed Espanyol fans for their behavior against Barcelona in the first leg of their Copa Del Rey quarter-final fixture whilst throwing a slight jibe: “If I had to choose a defeat, it’d be this one.”

Jasper Cillessen seemed to have an object thrown at him by an Espanyol supporter, while reports from Sport indicate that Pique was the subject of offensive chants about his popular wife Shakira in the course of the game which saw Espanyol run away with a 1 nil win.

“I’m not the one who should take action on the matter,” the defender said after the game.

“We already know that playing against Espanyol at Cornella is always difficult.

“I hope that all this doesn’t happen at Camp Nou, no-one being insulted or things thrown on to the pitch.

“When you lose, you always look for explanations, but the team competed well.

“The missed penalty was something that could happen, and the truth is the game didn’t go how we wanted.

“Still, if I had to choose a defeat, it’d be this one.”
