The Cristiano Ronaldo speculations continue, and the President of the La Liga Santander has made his opinions known by describing Cristiano Ronaldo’s supposed move away from Spain as an irreparable loss. He also suggested that Real Madrid should put plans in place to ensure that their key man stays.
Reports from Portugal on the player’s desire to leave Spain emerged on Friday, just weeks after leading the Los Blancos to back to back UEFA Champions League titles in Cardiff. His supposed desire to leave is being fuelled by the accusations that were levied against him stating that he was involved in defrauding the Spanish tax authorities of €14m
Reports claim that the likes of Manchester United, PSG, LA Galaxy and some clubs from the Chinese Super League are looking to capitalize on the situation and make transfer negotiations that will be enticing and price Ronaldo away from the Bernabeu. However, La Liga chief Tebas wants Ronaldo to remain in Madrid
Tebas told Spanish TV Channel La Sexta in an interview session: “You can’t measure it, but it would be huge, and more so on the international growth of La Liga. It would be a massive loss for us; an irreparable loss.”
Although Ronaldo is believed to have already made his decision to quit Real Madrid before the UEFA Champions League final in Cardiff, the tax issues appear to have fueled his supposed approach towards leaving Real Madrid. However, Tebas made his opinions known in his belief that Ronaldo is completely innocent and does not understand the offense he has supposedly committed.
“Knowing those around him, and how professional they are, I’m positive that Cristiano is innocent,” he added.
“We live at a time when any news about Spain’s Tax Office means everyone is a fraudster. I’m sure he’s innocent. From what I’ve read, I’m sure he hasn’t committed any crime.”
