Achilles, a white-furred Hermitage male cat that has gained a reputation for its psychic powers has predicted that Iran will beat Morocco when both sides meet in the FIFA World Cup game in St Petersburg on Friday.
The blue-eyed cat was offered two bowls containing food and the flags of the teams at the State Hermitage Museum in St. Petersburg. It reacted without hesitation by eating from the bowl with the Iranian flag. Both teams play today in Group B which also comprises Portugal and Spain.
The cat successfully predicted Russia’s win over Saudi Arabia in the World Cup opener in Moscow on Thursday. The hosts went on to win 5 nil.
Achilles is the animal oracle for the tournament as he had displayed capabilities for choice, as well as analysis and unusual behavior. The cat is also deaf like many other cats but the impairment does not sidetrack the feline and allows him to concentrate on his predictions.
Achilles was right about the outcomes of three out of the four 2017 Confederations Cup matches that were played in Zenit St. Petersburg. His performance in the course of the World Cup tournament is a joint project on developing tourism of St. Petersburg and the Hermitage Museum.
The Hermitage cat will also predict the outcome of World Cup games to be played on June 19, June 22, June 26, as well as July 6 and July 10.
