The Premier league games from the just concluded Match Day 36 saw the African players in most of the clubs make their contribution count for their sides. 10 games from Friday to Monday and there were series of decent and brilliant performances put up by some of the African players in the Premier League as they contributed immensely to 1 point for their sides or the maximum 3 points.

Players made contributions to their sides in goals, assists and other worthwhile performances on the field of play. We have selected our best African players from the sides who won or drew and they are mentioned below:

WILFRED NDIDI

NATIONALITY: NIGERIA

The Nigerian defensive midfielder contributed immensely to his sides 3 nil win as he toe-poked the ball into the roof of the opposition net to give his side the opener against Watford on the day amid his decent performance in midfield on the day.

 

LAMINE KONE

CLUB: SUNDERLAND

NATIONALITY: IVORY COAST

The Ivorian international was called on to play his part as Sunderland kept a clean sheet and got a rare win, beating Hull City by 2 goals to nil. He played his part in defense to secure a clean sheet for Sunderland

 

MAME BIRAM DIOUF

NATIONALITY: SENEGAL

The Senegalese striker contributed a goal in Stoke City’s draw away from home to Bournemouth. The Senegalese who was yet to break his duck this season in the league before the game scored his first of the season to help Stoke City get a draw on the day.

NATIONALITY: SENEGAL

The Senegalese midfielder was on hand for the Hammers to ensure the end of Tottenham’s winning run whilst putting a dent on their pursuit of Chelsea and their title hopes.

The Ghanaian attacker provided the assist to Manuel Lanzini that ended Spurs’ winning run. He made some decent attacking runs and final passes over the course of the game.

He is the younger of the Ayew brothers in the Premier League. He provided the assist for Fernando Llorente’s opener and Swansea’s winner against Everton to lift them 1 point above the final relegation place

The Ivorian Midfielder held his own in the center of the park as his side routed Crystal Palace to put them in a good position for a top 4 finish ahead of the final round of games.

The Algerian attacker capitalized on a defensive error from Watford to score the second of the three goals against Watford on the day.

 

YOHAN BENALOUANE

The Center back played his part in defense to lock out Watford’s attacking threat and ensure the foxes emerged with a clean sheet from the tie

The Nigerian attacker played his part impressively in the wing-back position for Chelsea as he has in previous games, with the much needed attacking forays into the opposition box, as well as adopting some defensive discipline to ensure Chelsea got all 3 points and a clean sheet in the process.

The Cameroonian defender didn’t have to do much on the day as Southampton were restricted to no shot on target in the game. Nevertheless, he still held his own in defense for Liverpool.
