Reports emerging from Italy suggest that AS Roma legend and former Italian international Francesco Totti has received an offer from Japanese side Tokyo Verdy, but he is insistent on a €3 million deal and this has resulted in negotiations going to a standstill.
The 40-year-old midfielder played his last game for Roma at the end of the 2016/2017 Serie A season to round up an impressive and illustrious career with the Italian club. Reports indicate that Totti has also received an offer to assume the role of a director in the club.
However, Er Pupone as he is fondly called may be insistent on continuing his football playing career and has thus received an offer from the J2 League side. The club’s president Hanyu Hideaki confirmed his club’s interest in the former Italian international to the Japanese media.
He said: “We are interested and have contacted him”
“There’s been no progress though as he wants €3m. Having him here would be a dream.”
Meanwhile, despite Totti being a veteran in the game, he won’t be the oldest player in the division if the move to Japan materializes as former Genoa striker Kazuyoshi Miura still plays for Yokohama FC and he is 50.
