Alvaro Morata has revealed that he always wanted to play for the Los Rojiblancos. The Spain striker spent some time at the club as a youngster and was even a ball boy for the club at a time before his breakthrough came at neighbors Real Madrid.
Alvaro Morata joined Chelsea from Madrid in 2017 after impressing in a two-year spell at Juventus. The Spain international was Chelsea’s record signing after the move to Stamford Bridge.
He started strongly at Chelsea before his contributions began to wane with inconsistencies creeping into his play. The player will now get another chance to impress after struggling at Chelsea as he sealed an 18-month loan deal to Atletico Madrid on Monday.
Morata will now join up with the attacking lineup of Antoine Griezmann, Diego Costa who is recovering from foot surgery, and Nikola Kalinic at the Wanda Metropolitano.
Speaking after the move, Morata said: “In my career, it is a dream come true”
“When I was young I saw all the Atletico legends and the other players of LaLiga.
“It’s very important for me and it means a lot because I always wanted to play for Atletico Madrid – it’s a very special day for me. I know Atletico: what it means, this club, this name. I already know the club inside.
“I know what I need to do here to have success and I think I’m in the right place to make another step in my life in a very important step in my career. I know a lot of team-mates and I know the club and I’m ready to fight and to play.”
