Arsenal FC chiefs are disappointed with Barcelona for their persistent attempts to unsettle Pierre Emerick-Aubameyang at the Emirates after turning their attention to Inter Milan’s Lautaro Martinez eventually.
The Gabon international is set to enter the final year of his contract and has been repeatedly linked with a move to Barcelona, as they are in the market for a new striker. Therefore, the Gunners may have no choice but to cash in on the striker if he refuses to put pen to paper rather than losing him for free in a year.
Barcelona’s reported pursuit of the striker has unsettled him at Arsenal and the London club are unhappy with the La Liga giants, and more so after the Catalans are now pursuing Lautaro Martinez ahead of Aubameyang.
Barca reportedly made an opening offer of £65million for the 22-year-old Argentina international which was rejected. A follow-up bid is expected for the attacker whose buyout clause is £102m. He is Barcelona’s top summer target and they are confident they can land him.
Therefore, they won’t make any move for Aunbameyang till they’ve exhausted every available option in their pursuit of Lautaro Martinez, who has 16 goals in 31 games for Inter this season.
Aubameyang has 20 goals in 32 appearances for Arsenal in the Premier League and Europa League. Mikel Arteta is expected to sit with the 30-year-old to discuss his future before the season ends.
