According to The Transfer Window Podcast, Arsenal have made French striker Alexandre Lacazette available for transfer this summer in a bid to help fund the rebuilding of Mikel Arteta’s squad.
The Gunners have already spent £8m so far this summer on left-back Nuno Tavares and are close to completing deals for Brighton’s Ben White and Anderlecht midfielder Albert Sambi Lokonga for a combined £68m.
The Gunners need to offload some players to balance their books and fund additional signings with the likes of Willian, Hector Bellerin, and Granit Xhaka, all free to leave.
It has now been disclosed that the French striker is available for transfer as the club are open to offers for the 30-year-old after spending four years at the club.
Lacazatte is currently in the last 12 months of his running Arsenal contract and they are keen to offload him this summer to avoid losing for nothing next summer.
He has been previously linked with a move to La Liga outfit Atletico Madrid in the past but it appears the interest has died down as the Rojiblancos are reportedly in talks to re-sign fellow countryman Antoine Griezmann from Barcelona.
Lacazette was Arsenal’s record signing when he arrived in 2017 from Lyon in a deal worth £46.5m. However, it appears he has not yet impressed Arteta to the extent of the Spaniard making him a regular in the starting lineup.
Regardless, the forward has averaged above 10 goals in the past four Premier League seasons for the Gunners although he has started just 22 games in each of the last two seasons for the North London outfit.
