According to Sky Sports, Arsenal have been warned that they will have to part with £70m to sign Leicester City’s James Maddison this summer.
The midfielder has emerged as a potential summer transfer target for Mikel Arteta’s side as he looks to add a No.10 to his squad ahead of the new season.
The challenging part of this deal is that Leicester are in no rush to sell the 24-year-old. He also has three years remaining in his present deal.
Meanwhile, Arsenal have not yet ruled out a move for last season’s loanee from Real Madrid Martin Odegaard but are waiting to see the decision that the Spanish club will take concerning his future at the Bernabeu.
It can be recalled that the Norwegian spent the second half of last season on loan at the Emirates and is still highly regarded by Arteta although the spell was a mixed one.
Let’s take a look at James Maddison at Leicester City. Stats confirm that he alongside Harry Kane are the only players that scored more goals from outside the box than Manchester City’s Riyad Mahrez over the last two campaigns. He has 7 to his name alongside the Spurs forward.
Meanwhile, a move for Maddison this summer will only be possible for Arsenal if they make a significant sale considering that a £50m for Brighton defender Ben White is close to completion.
