Football is one very unpredictable game that many folks should be aware of by now, and stop underrating teams.
Thomas Tuchel’s winning run at Chelsea was halted by the unlikeliest of teams in the Premier League on Saturday and no one saw it coming. A good one for the bookies indeed!
Chelsea were hammered 5:2 by Sam Allardyce’s West Brom at Stamford Bridge in the early kickoff game on Saturday and it was a big shocker. The Blues have been stingy in letting in the goals under Tuchel, but when they did, it was against 19th placed West Brom.
We could say the Blues’ momentum was halted by the international break but they were not the only team whose players engaged wholly in the internationals.
The game was an eye-opener and should serve as a ‘back to earth’ guide to fans who think a game is won before it is played because a team is in the best of form.

Thiago Silva was dismissed before halftime after receiving a second yellow and West Brom sensed victory from then, although Chelsea were leading
This brings me to the point of this article. A good number of Chelsea fans were jubilant after they were drawn to face FC Porto in the quarter-finals of the 2020/21 UEFA Champions League.
They saw Porto as one of the whipping boys of the competition, but any team that can eliminate Juventus and neutralize Cristiano Ronaldo’s should not b taken lightly, and hopefully, the Blues don’t learn this the hard way.
Chelsea face Porto on Wednesday and West Brom have given them a reality check ahead of the game. Even the fans will lower their voices now as they’ve seen that regardless of form, there are no guarantees in the round leather game.
The Blues were overwhelming favorites to progress to the next stage. However, this defeat to West Brom has shown that they can capitulate and are not invincible as most people thought.
Porto will be very eager to stun Chelsea and eliminate them from the competition. The Blues will be going into the game off the back of the thrashing by West Brom and must prove that the loss was just a one-off.
Regardless, nothing is cast in stone anymore as thought initially ahead of the game after the demystification of Tuchel’s Chelsea by Sam Allardyce’s West Brom. We look forward to Porto vs Chelsea!
