Barca plan last ditch attempt to acquire Lautaro Martinez

These may be challenging times for Barcelona but they are still interested in the services of Inter Milan forward Lautaro Martinez. He’s one of the players that have been heavily linked with a move to the La Liga giants although the Serie A club have deemed him untransferrable.

Regardless, a report by Goal suggests that Barcelona are working on a final offer that will test Inter Milan’s resolve to keep Lautaro Martinez as the La Liga outfit plan to acquire a quality replacement for Luis Suarez.

It can be recalled that Luis Suarez was informed by current boss Ronald Koeman, that he was not in his plans at the Camp Nou. He was advised to seek a move elsewhere and is very close to making a move to Juventus.

Inter Milan sporting director Piero Ausilio had previously disclosed that they were determined to keep the 23-year-old Argentine. He also disclosed that Barcelona made an approach for the player but the talks were not successful.

However, this was before the recent shake-up at the club and it appears that current Barcelona boss Ronald Koeman is keen for the pursuit to continue although it seems it will be a tall order trying to convince Inter to part with the forward.

Regardless, Barcelona need to sort Luis Suarez’s future at the club with a move to Juventus on the cards. The Uruguayan striker has one year left in his contract and it includes an automatic renewal for another year if he is used in 60% of the matches to be played.

The fact that Luis Suarez is willing to sit with the club and negotiate an exit is a plus for them. He is due almost $16.5 million and a buyout seems impossible. With the forward close to a switch to Juventus, negotiation of the contract price is the best option for all parties involved.

Martinez can be a good replacement for Luis Suarez and will cost them less on an annual basis. However, unless Barca provide an offer that Inter Milan will find irresistible and too hard to decline, their chances of having a successful negotiation are slim.
