Leeds United aim to do better in the Premier League next season and have started showing intent with their transfer dealings this summer. Junior Firpo is close to leaving Spanish giants Barcelona for Elland Road.
According to Sport, the Premier League outfit have convinced Firpo to join them and a transfer that sees him move in that direction could be completed within the next 48 hours.
The report further reveals that Barcelona are looking to make around €15 million in the transfer. Firpo was close and keen on a move to AC Milan but the Serie A giants offered a loan.
The report seems concrete as ESPN claim that Leeds United are leading the race for the former Betis man and added that his also keen to join the Premier League club.
The report went on to add that a price has not yet been agreed between the clubs and it has not been decided if the move will be on loan with a clause to make the move permanent next summer or if it will be an outright sale.
According to the report, Barcelona intend to pay off the amortization on the transfer and it is between €10.8m and €18m. It can be recalled that Junior was signed from Real Betis in August 2019 on a five-year deal worth €18 million, plus €12 million in variables.
Meanwhile, all eyes at the Catalan club will be on Lionel Messi’s final decision on if he will extend his contract with the club or not before June runs out.
