Gerard Pique is not getting any younger although he’s still at the top of his game. Therefore, Barcelona are making a move to secure the future of one of his defensive partners at the club, Clement Lenglet.
According to Sport, cited by Football Espana, the Catalans want to extend Clement Lenglet’s current deal and increase his buyout clause to €300m.
Lenglet was signed from Sevilla and has been impressive since his move to Camp Nou. It is also being reported that his performances could see fellow countryman Samuel Umtiti being put up for sale by the club this summer.
This wouldn’t have been thought of a year ago when Umtiti was a key man in Barcelona’s central defense. However, a knee injury has hampered his performances while Lenglet stepped up and impressed making sure that Umtiti was rarely missed.
The Frenchman was signed for €35m but his value has skyrocketed after impressing in central defense with his consistency, calmness, and ability.
