Blues to lose Jorginho? Agent predicts bids in the summer
Jorginho’s agent is expecting interest in his client in the summer and is not ruling out the possibility of his client leaving Chelsea to reunite with Maurizio Sarri at Juventus. The Italy international has been instrumental since his move to Stamford Bridge. He has been key this season under Frank Lampard having played 20 of Chelsea’s last 25 Premier League games.
Regardless, Lampard could face a fight to keep the 28-year-old in the summer as his agent Joao Santos has predicted bids for the Brazil-born schemer. Jorginho has been specifically linked with a move to Juventus to reunite with former boss Maurizio Sarri.
Santos told Tuttomercatoweb: ‘Why not? ‘I am sure that some important proposals will come, which we would obviously evaluate together with Chelsea. Sarri would like to work with Jorginho again
‘Even personally, he is doing very well at Chelsea, and I am sure that some important proposals will come because in his role there are not many high-level players like him around.’
Meanwhile, the player is focusing on his own performances, specifically for Italy’s campaign at the Euro 2020 tournament.
‘His goal is the Europeans with the national team,’ continued Santos.
‘There are many expectations around [Roberto] Mancini’s team. The European Championship is also a good showcase.’
Frank Lampard has been impressed with Jorginho’s performances this season and will be gutted to lose the midfielder in the summer. Speaking about him, the Chelsea manager said:
‘I love his spirit, how he trains and how he plays. I keep going on about that but it’s infectious and it’s important.
‘I watched him last year and I thought he finished the season really well but you only really know a player when you see them day in and day out.
‘From the first day of training he showed me instantly his quality and his attitude.
‘I am actually fortunate to have Jorginho.’
Jorginho also expressed satisfaction with his work thus far with the English man, adding that the advanced role he has been assigned under the new boss has given him a new lease of life after working in the same system under Sarri.
‘I have more freedom,’ Jorginho told The Athletic.
‘After four years with the same coach, it’s obvious a change will bring new ideas.
‘In the past, everything was about keeping a balance to our play. In the position I was in, it was important for me to maintain that balance in the team’s performance.
‘Whereas now I can leave my post a little more, look to get forward, move closer to the opposition goal.’
