According to Calcio Mercato, Chelsea star Cesc Fabregas has reached an agreement with Monaco and will join the Ligue 1 outfit in the January transfer window.
It can be recalled that AC Milan were reportedly in pole position to sign Fabregas but could not match the asking price for the midfielder. The Serie A giants were keen to sign the player on loan with an option to buy, offering the player an 18-month contract in the process.
However, Monaco were prepared to secure Fabregas’ services on a permanent basis in a €10 million deal with Thierry Henry offering the player a five-year deal.
AC Milan were eager to sign Fabregas but Chelsea were only interested in a permanent deal for the Spaniard. The lingering doubts over Tiemoue Bakayoko’s move to AC Milan also didn’t help matters for the Serie A outfit.
It is believed that Fabregas’ move will be made official once the Blues acquire a replacement in central midfield.
