Chelsea FC are prepared to give Mason Mount a chance to prove himself in pre-season to see if he can stake a significant claim for a place in the first team under Maurizio Sarri.
Mason Mount, 20, is yet to feature for Chelsea’s senior team but this could change for the better if he impresses for the Blues in pre-season.
The Young English player spent the 2018/19 season on loan to Championship side Derby County under Chelsea legend Frank Lampard and has played his part for the side nicely in their bid to make it back to the Premier League.
Mason Mount scored 9 goals and provided 4 assists in 37 games for the Rams as they finished 6th on the log, effectively qualifying for the play-off round.
He has also played his part nicely in the playoffs thus far as he scored in the 4:2 second-leg victory over Marcelo Bielsa’s Leeds United and advanced to the final at Wembley with a 4:3 aggregate scoreline.
Therefore, Derby County can seal promotion to the Premier League if they can beat Aston Villa on May 27, and this could be Mount’s last game for the Rams regardless of the outcome of the game.
It can be recalled that the Blues are facing a transfer ban for two windows if their appeal is kicked out. Therefore, they’ve made the midfielder a part of their plans for pre-season regardless of whether Maurizio Sarri remains or leaves.
The Blues begin their pre-season exertions on July 23 in Japan where they face the 2018 champions of the J-League, Kawasaki Frontale, at the Nissan Stadium in Yokohama.
They’ll then play against La Liga champions Barcelona at the Saitama Stadium on July 23.
Therefore, with these games in mind, the club have secured a Japanese visa for Mason Mount so he can participate fully in Chelsea’s pre-season plans.
