It appears that Chelsea are very close to signing Philippe Coutinho from Barcelona as there have been negotiations to bring the Brazil international to Stamford Bridge.
According to Spanish news outlet, Sport (via Sports Witness), a deal is very close to completion although it’s yet to be known of it will be a loan or permanent deal. Regardless, there are hints that it will be a permanent deal.
Barcelona are keen to balance their books and want €90m for Coutinho. However, Chelsea are not willing to part with such an amount for the Brazilian. Coutinho is keen on s return to the Premier League and this could work to Chelsea’s advantage.
Chelsea will be taking a risk to sign Coutinho though, as he has not been in great form in his time at Barcelona and even in his loan spell at Bayern Munich. It was the major reason why the Bundesliga giants chose not to make the deal permanent.
However, if he manages to replicate his Liverpool form at Chelsea, there’s no doubt that he’ll boost Frank Lampard’s team.
