Dani Alves has announced his departure from Paris Saint-Germain after spending two seasons at the Parc des Princes.
He made this known in an Instagram post where he explained that he was closing another chapter of his career.
Excerpts from his lengthy statement read: “Today I close another cycle in my life, a cycle of victory, learning and experiences”.
“I would like to thank the PSG family for the opportunity to together build a page in the history of this club.
“I would like to thank all the staff for their affection, respect, and complicity from day one … you make this club a little more special.”
The 36-year-old Brazilian joined PSG from Juventus in 2017 and won two Ligue 1 titles with them. However, he fell short in his efforts, alongside the team, in their quest to win the UEFA Champions League.
It can be recalled that PSG suffered a shock elimination by Manchester United in the last 16 of last season’s UCL competition. Dani Alves played at least 73 games for the Ligue 1 giants across 2 seasons and scored 8 goals for the club.
The veteran defender is currently the Brazil captain in the ongoing Copa America being hosted on home soil where he already has a goal to his name in their 5 nil rout of Peru in the last group stage game.
