Dele Alli has been ruled out of Tottenham Hotspur’s Premier League opener against newly-promoted side Aston Villa.
The England international played no part in yesterday’s final pre-season game against Inter Milan due to a hamstring injury.
Mauricio Pochettino confirmed the player’s absence from the Premier League opener after the Inter game, stating that Dele Alli would not be available to face Aston Villa at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium on Saturday.
Pochettino said: “Of course we are worried.
“He’s still so young and has had many, many hamstring problems the last few years.”
The Argentine boss added: “He has to pay attention to what is going on in his body, but we are here to try to help him.
“It is a minor injury. Only a few weeks before he can be available again and be with the group.”
It can be recalled that Alli missed all of Spurs’ February fixtures last season due to a hamstring injury. There are fears that he may also be out against the likes of Man City on August 17, Newcastle United on August 25, and the London derby on September 1.
