Reports suggest that Diego Costa may be set to quit Atletico Madrid just 12 months after forcing a move away from Chelsea to the Wanda Metropolitano.
It can be recalled that the Spain international sparked controversy last year when Chelsea refused to sell him to Atletico Madrid. Diego Costa went on strike and chose to remain in Brazil and only returned to Europe to relocate his family to Spain.
He finally got his demands met and joined Atletico Madrid when the January transfer window opened. However, 12 months after, he could be set for a departure from Atletico Madrid. Tuttomercatoweb have claimed that Chinese side Tianjin Quanjian are interested in signing Diego Costa.
‘The player had initially snubbed the Chinese outfit before making a return to Spain, but the club have persisted and are insistent on signing the Spain international.
Meanwhile, Costa has returned to Brazil to undergo surgery on a metatarsal injury that will keep him out of action for close to three months.
Atletico Madrid manager, Diego Simeone, could approve the Spaniard’s departure once the window opens. The move to China is likely as the Club will be ready to increase his wages which is what Costa has been denied thus far at Atletico Madrid.
Edinson Cavani has been speculated as the possible replacement for Diego Costa if he leaves Atletico Madrid.
