Emerson Palmieri didn’t get as much game time as he would have loved at Chelsea last season under Thomas Tuchel and could be set for a departure from Stamford Bridge this summer.
Napoli are in talks with Chelsea for the defender who is reported to have told the club that he wants to leave.
Emerson, who played his part in Italy’s Euro 2020 triumph when called upon has a contract with Chelsea that will expire in June 2022, although the club have an option to extend his stay with them until 2023.
The Italian defender of Brazilian descent joined Chelsea from Roma in 2018 in a deal worth €20m. Regardless, Luciano Spalletti wants to reunite with the defender although several reports in Italy suggest that Chelsea’s asking price is too high.
According to Calciomercato.com, Chelsea are demanding €20m for the Italian while Napoli are offering half of that. However, talks are still progressing smoothly as Emerson is keen to move to Napoli this summer.
He has told the club that he wants to leave and previous reports have suggested that Spalletti has already convinced him to sign for Napoli. Meanwhile, the defender has managed 2 goals and 5 assists in 70 games for Chelsea.
