Hertha Berlin sign Ascacibar from Stuttgart

German Bundesliga outfit Hertha Berlin have signed Argentine midfielder Santiago Ascacibar from Bundesliga 2 side Stuttgart. According to the club on Wednesday, the 22-year-old defensive midfielder signed a long-term deal and will join the squad in a training camp in Orlando, Florida.

The Sporting Director of Hertha Berlin Michael Preetz said: “Santiago can play at a variety of different positions in central midfield”

“At just 22 years old, he is a young midfielder in the midst of his development and is strong in tackles. We’re extremely pleased.”

Ascacibar made 58 appearances for Stuttgart in the Bundesliga and 13 appearances after the drop to the second division last season. He joined Stuttgart from Argentine side Estudiantes in 2017

He has also made three appearances for Argentina. Meanwhile, Hertha Berlin currently sit 12th in the Bundesliga and are keen on making it to Europe next season after impressing under new coach Jurgen Klinsmann.
