Insigne set to discuss new contract terms with Napoli

Napoli forward Lorenzo Insigne will meet with club president Aurelio De Laurentiis at Castel di Sangro to discuss the possible renewal of his contract with the Partenopei.

The captain will be returning from his extended holiday after the European Championship and will undergo medical examinations and athletic tests at Castel Volturno.

It is expected that the meeting will take place at the sports center according to Il Corriere dello Sport. Insigne’s contract is set to expire in June 2022 and the player wants a raise in his salary at the Stadio Diego Maradona.

However, the club are insisting that he takes a pay cut due to the difficult times brought about by the COVID pandemic. The player has played 397 competitive games for the club and has 109 goals to his name but his future at the club presently appears uncertain.

La Gazzetta dello Sport have also confirmed the report by Il Corriere dello Sport and Insign will meet with Da Laurentiis in two days over discussions over his future at the club and possibly over an extension of his contract.
