Is it finally time to end Juve’s Serie A dominance?

A good number of fans have been hoping for a shift of dominance in Serie A in recent years. Will this be the case at the end of the 2020/21 season? The question is a very difficult one to answer and it has been proven over the years in Serie A.

Juventus have wholly dominated the league and there has been nothing that both old and new rivals have been able to do about it.

We’ve seen cases where the other title contenders in the Serie A start the season like a house on fire only to falter when the pressure peaks and Juventus have an easy stroll to the defense of their title.

Well, with the way the season is panning out in Italy, we may see a change this year, and what better time than now?

This is arguably the best time for other big teams in Serie A to take the battle to the Old Ladies and thwart their title defense.

AC Milan, currently being led by Stefano Pioli are one of such teams and they’ve shown that they can take the fight to Juve with the consistency they’ve shown this season.

They are also followed by local rivals Inter Milan who are currently being managed by Antonio Conte.

The Rossoneri have been very impressive this season against all odds and currently, top Serie A with 37 points, closely followed by Inter Milan (Nerazzuri) on 36 points, Roma on 30, Napoli on 28, and Juventus on 5th with 27 points and a game in hand.

The top 2 in Serie A thus far have won 11 games out of 15. AC Milan are yet to lose a game while Inter Milan have lost once. Regardless, Antonio Conte’s men are on a run of 5 wins in a row.

Juventus, on the other hand, haven’t been at their best this season. They’ve lost just once though in a 3 nil defeat to Fiorentina in Turin but ae 10 points off first place.

The Old Ladies currently have a rookie manager in Andrea Pirlo and this has been reflected in their performances this season. Therefore, the experienced managers in charge of the other big sides must take advantage of this.

There are still more games to go in the ongoing season and we can’t possibly identify the team that will hoist the trophy at the end of the season.

Regardless, the form and consistency of AC Milan and Inter Milan should provide major worries for the Old Ladies with regards to the defense of their title.

One question begs to be answered though! Can these sides above Juventus maintain their form and consistency as the pressure continues to build?

Juventus won’t give up the title without a fight and the fact that they’ve lost just 1 game despite their struggles is a major pointer.

We look forward to what the 2020/21 Serie A season holds and hopefully, the likes of Stefano Pioli, Antonio Conte, Paulo Fonseca, and Gennaro Gattuso have the best answers to the question of if Juve’s hold on the Serie A can be broken, at least for this season.
