James Rodriguez offered to Man United in a cut-price deal

Manchester United have been handed a chance to sign Colombia international James Rodriguez from Real Madrid in a cut-price deal according to a report by The Sun.

Rodriguez appears to be surplus to requirements at Santiago Bernabeu in recent times and Los Blancos are eager to permanently sell him this summer to raise funds for their targets.

James Rodriguez has made just 4 La Liga starts under Zinedine Zidane this season after his return from a two-year loan spell at Bayern Munich last summer.

The Bundesliga giants are beginning to take advantage of this kind of deal as Barcelona’s Philippe Coutinho is currently on a season-long loan at the Allianz Arena, amid uncertainty whether he will be signed permanently or not.

Recent reports suggest that he could be making a return to Camp Nou this summer where he also appears to be surplus to requirements.

Meanwhile, It can be recalled that James has been linked with a move to Manchester United in the past, reportedly worth £80m. The report suggests that the Red Devils can now get their man for a fraction of the price.

However, with the arrival of the impressive Bruno Fernandes from Portuguese outfit Sporting CP in the winter transfer window, it’d be a shock if United renew their interest in the Colombia international.

Chances of a move for James are minute, considering the possible reduced transfer budget post-COVID-19.

Therefore, the Old Trafford outfit will not be willing to allocate a large chunk of the funds to acquire one player, especially with Real Madrid desperate to get him off their books.

Manchester United are reportedly looking at making moves for the likes of Jadon Sancho, Donny van de Beek, and Kai Havertz.

James Rodriguez came to limelight after his impressive performance at the 2014 World Cup in Brazil. However, his career has been on a steady decline in the last three seasons.

The midfielder was very impressive in his first season at the Bernabeu in the 2014/15 campaign where he scored 13 goals and provided 13 assists in 34 La Liga games. However, since then, he has not reached double figures in both goals and assists.
