Juventus close in on a free transfer for Donnarumma

A report from Corriere Torino suggests that Juventus are closing in on the potential free transfer of AC Milan goalkeeper Gigio Donnarumma. However, the Old Ladies will need to let go of Wojciech Szczesny for the deal to materialize.

Donnarumma’s future at AC Milan appears uncertain as his contract talks have not been going smoothly and have been a talking point in Italy for a while. This is because Mino Raiola has made demands that the Rossoneri are not willing to meet.

Meanwhile, this is a plus for the Old Ladies as they can get to replace Szczesny with the 22-year-old towering shot-stopper and this will be a major step in the right direction, and more so it will be long-term.

Donnarumma’s contract will end in the summer and a new deal that will see him commit his future to the club is yet to be agreed with the season drawing to a close.

The Italian goalkeeper has a market value of £54 million and this makes getting him on a free transfer a massive deal.

Meanwhile, the report adds that current Juventus goalkeeper Wojciech Szczesny is a subject of interest from the Premier League although no club was mentioned.

It can be recalled that the 31-year-old spent eight years between the sticks at Arsenal in the Premier League and it remains to be seen if he’d be open to a return to England, or maybe Arsenal. Still just speculations at the moment.

AC Milan may have to give in to Raiola’s demands or risk losing a goalkeeper of Donnarumma’s quality for nothing and this would be a big blow to the San Siro outfit.

They’ve seen their momentum in the Serie A drop in recent weeks and will now have to fiercely fight for a place in the Serie A’s Champions League places. They lost their place in the top four after a 3 nil loss away to Lazio on Monday night.
