Arsenal legend and former Nigeria international Nwankwo Kanu has expressed the belief that Premier League defenses are already afraid of record signing Nicolas Pepe.
The Ivory Coast international has made 2 starts for the Gunners since completing a £72m move from Ligue 1 outfit Lille in the summer.
The player who was impressive at Anfield in the game against Liverpool also caught the eye in the North London derby against Tottenham Hotspur at the Emirates before the international break.
He had the chance to open his scoring account in the game but missed a golden opportunity. Regardless, Kanu believes that Pepe will be a real hit at the Emirates and explained that he offers something different to Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang and Alexandre Lacazette.
In a chat with Goal, Kanu said: “If you watch him you can see he is a really good footballer and his feet are very quick. He is going to score goals and he is going to play well”
“He will get much better and he will score goals for us. He brings us something different to the other two strikers.
“I believe that teams are already afraid of him after a few games. They are scared of what he can do and what he can offer. He’s a very good addition.”
Meanwhile, Arsenal return to Premier League action with a trip to Vicarage Road to face Watford who currently have a returnee in Quique Sanchez Flores at the managerial helm.
The Gunners have an impressive record against Watford and have won six of their last seven games at Vicarage Road. One wouldn’t bet against Pepe opening his goalscoring account for Unai Emery’s side in this one.
