Reports claim that Poland striker Robert Lewandowski will not leave Bayern Munich this summer despite interest from the likes of Manchester City and Chelsea.
The striker is currently the best in the game after netting more than 100 goals in all competitions in the past two seasons, including a record-breaking 2020/21 campaign where he scored 41 goals for the Bavarian giants in the Bundesliga.
The number of goals in the season ensured that Gerd Muller’s long-standing scoring record was broken and a new one set. The Polish forward still has two years left in his current contract but it has not stopped him from being linked with a move to the Premier League.
However, a report by L’Equipe suggests that the German outfit want him to stay even if a big offer comes for him.
Regardless, his agent Pini Zahavi is open to a move as he is convinced that Lewandowski is eager for a new challenge before he calls it quits on professional football.
La Liga giants Real Madrid seem to be the only club that can tempt him away from Bayern but it remains to be seen if a move will be made due to the current financial predicament, making a move this summer impossible.
Meanwhile, an approach can be made by the Spanish giants next summer although Bayern will be looking to extend Lewandowski’s contract. If they fail to agree a new deal with the Polish striker, they’d still demand close to €50m and this is big money for a player of his age.
