Madrid handed injury boost ahead of Valencia tie

Real Madrid are set to return to La Liga action after the winter break when they travel to face Getafe and possibly reduce a two-point deficit opened up by rivals Barcelona who are currently topping the La Liga table.

However, their focus will be on the semi-finals of the Super Cup where they are set to face Valencia and look to progress to the final where they’ll play against Barcelona or Atletico Madrid in the final on January 12.

A report from AS, suggests that Zinedine Zidane could be handed an injury boost ahead of the game as the likes of Marcelo and Lucas Vazquez are in contention for a return to action after joining up with teammates in training.

It remains to be seen if they’ll be allowed to feature for the Los Blancos, as their addition will be a big plus to the side. However, the report notes that none of them will be available for the trip to Getafe.

The report also states that neither Eden Hazard or Marco Asensio will be available against Valencia as they are still on the road to recovery.
