Man United and Spurs open talks with Islam Slimani
Islam Slimani joined Monaco on a season-long loan from Leicester City in August 2019 and has been in impressive form this season, scoring 7 goals and providing 7 assists in just 13 league appearances.
His performance has attracted interest from the likes of Manchester United and Tottenham Hotspur according to RMC (via Get French Football). According to the report, the two English clubs are in conversation with the Algerian’s representatives.
However, the deal appears complicated due to Slimani’s existing contract with Monaco but if he can be convinced to join Man United or Spurs, a deal could be done with the Foxes that will see the successful club take over Monaco’s loan. They could also go all out for him and make a bid to sign Slimani from Leicester outrightly.
Leicester signed Slimani from Sporting Lisbon in 2016 in a £27.5m deal but he failed to assert himself at the King Power before making a loan move to Newcastle United which was the first of three loan spells.
Man United and Tottenham Hotspur are looking to sign a new striker due to injuries to key forwards Marcus Rashford and Harry Kane respectively. Rashford will be on the sidelines till the latter stages of the season while Kane is out till April with a severe hamstring injury.
