Manchester City are the team of the Premier League

Manchester City under Pep Guardiola have become the major force in the Premier League, although they’re yet to translate their dominance to the European scene. Nevertheless, they’ve been decent on all fronts.

The Citizens defended retained the Premier League title last season and also won all the domestic titles that were up for contention while the likes of Chelsea, Liverpool, Arsenal, Man United, and Tottenham Hotspur could only watch on.

Fast forward to this summer, and the Citizens are still going strong and not resting on their laurels.

The Etihad outfit might have the UCL title as their priority next season. This is because it’s the major trophy that has eluded Pep Guardiola in his time at Manchester City.

Regardless, they definitely won’t be average on the domestic scene as they look to strengthen this summer despite their dominance.

A Premier League title defense had not been attainable for years but the Citizens achieved the feat in style in the 2018/19 season, all the while, playing the most attractive brand of football in the land.

The 2019/20 season approaches, and presently, only Liverpool who emerged as UCL Champions look strong enough to take the fight to the Citizens for the Premier League title.

While City may prioritize the UCL, Liverpool will prioritize the Premier League which has eluded them for decades.

Very few teams had answers to Pep Guardiola’s brand of football last season, and the fear is that they can only get better, whilst making decent quality additions to their team. The same can not be said for the majority of their domestic rivals.

The likes of Joao Cancelo, Harry Maguire, Rodri and other notable names have already been heavily linked with the Citizens in the ongoing transfer window and it is expected that they’ll end up acquiring one or two of their major targets before the close of the summer transfer window.

Who would have believed that the supposedly highly competitive Premier League could be dominated by one team? This was never thought of in the past, but the recent trends in the league, as well as the efforts of supposed rivals barring 1 or 2, make this possible going by the Citizens’ domestic treble last season.

The 2019/20 league season is fast approaching and we wait to see if the rivals will be able to provide the right answers to the questions that Pep Guardiola’s Man City will throw at them in the course of the season.
