Manchester United to pursue new Pogba after Varane deal

It appears Manchester United are not close to being done with transfer market dealings this summer as they could be eying another signing once the acquisition of Raphael Varane is completed.

The Red Devils have already agreed a deal for the French defender for a fee close to £41 million ($57 million) plus add-ons based on a report by Sky Sports.

With the deal as good as done, the Old Trafford outfit will now continue their pursuit of a versatile midfielder according to Fabrizio Romano.

Romano admitted that Varane is the top priority presently but that a move for a midfielder is next in line with the likes of Atletico Madrid’s Saul Niguez, Bayern Munich’s Leon Goretzka, and Rennes’ Eduardo Camavinga being considered.

“And for the midfielder, I wanted to clarify for Manchester United,” Romano recently said on “ The Here We Go Podcast.”

“For the midfielder, it will be an opportunity. I see a lot of questions – [Leon] Goretzka, Saul [Niguez], [Eduardo] Camavinga–but it’s not a priority now. The priority is to complete the Varane deal and then to go for a midfielder.”

It has been noted that the aforementioned midfielders have one thing in common, and it is that they are possible replacements for Paul Pogba whose future at Old Trafford seems uncertain.

Regardless, Camavinga appears to be the most interesting being linked with the Red Devils as a replacement for Paul Pogba.

previous report suggested that the player is close to becoming a Manchester United player as rumors suggest that the club are considering bringing him to take over Pogba’s role in case the Frenchman leaves.

We wait to see how this pans out as Ligue 1 outfit Rennes have been consistent with their stance that the player will stay put at the club and are considering handing the youngster a new deal before he can sign a pre-contract agreement with a foreign club in January.
