Manuel Pellegrini has expressed delight over Jack Wilshere’s performance in West Ham’s 2 nil League Cup win over Newport County on Tuesday.
He went on to express confidence that the Englishman who scored his first goal for the club will get better. Wilshere’s first season with the Hammers was plagued by injuries after the move from Arsenal and is yet to play the full 90 minutes of a game in over a year.
He was subbed off in the 82nd minute of the game on Tuesday after playing his part in ensuring that West Ham sealed a place in the third round of the League Cup by opening the scoring for the Hammers just before halftime.
In a chat with reporters, Pellegrini said: “The way Jack continues working every day and playing in games, he will continue improving his performance”
“You cannot expect that he will be the top player when he plays so few minutes last season.
“But in the way he is playing he is demonstrating the good player that he is.”
