Alvaro Morata has shot a warning to his Chelsea teammates claiming that Lionel Messi will be unstoppable when the two sides square off against each other in the Champions League.
The two sides renew their rivalry in the last 16 of the 2017/18 UEFA Champions League. Messi has faced Chelsea 6 times and is yet to score a single goal in those encounters, unarguably his worst record against a single club in the course of his career thus far.
Ernesto Valverde’s men head into the tie as favorites, and Morata believes that it will take some significant effort to be put in by his side to have any possibility of emerging victorious in the tie.
‘Messi can’t be stopped,’ the Spain striker told Movistar+.
‘If we can get a good result here, we have to play a defensive game with spaces and try to bother them as much as possible.’
The first leg will take place at Stamford Bridge on February 20, before the return leg at the Camp Nou scheduled to hold on March 14
Meanwhile, Chelsea returned to winning ways in the Premier League with a comfortable 3 nil win against West Brom, with Hazard being instrumental and scoring a brace on the night.
