Mason Mount has insisted that Chelsea have eyes on silverware this season despite the youthful talents in the side who lack major experience.
The trio of Mason Mount, Tammy Abraham, and Fikayo Tomori, all Chelsea Academy products, have been instrumental in the club’s recent run of 8 wins in 9 games, including 5 consecutive Premier League victories. The Blues currently sit 4th on the Premier League log.
Meanwhile, the Blues will have eyes on a third consecutive win in the UEFA Champions League when they welcome Eredivisie giants Ajax to Stamford Bridge on Tuesday. It’s a game where garnering all 3 points will put the Blues in good stead for easy qualification into the Round of 16 knockout stages.
“We want to win trophies and we want to be top of the league,” Mason Mount said.
“We’re so tight as a team, the bond is so good and we’ve got that focus and togetherness that we need to win trophies.
“That’s our next goal, to win a major trophy. We just need to keep getting better and better, which is what we’ve shown over the last couple of weeks.
“If we carry on this level of performance, we can definitely be a top contender in any competition.”
Meanwhile, N’Golo Kante is available after returning from a groin injury while Ross Barkley and Andreas Christensen also trained ahead of the match.
