Moussa Dembele, who established himself as one of the best forwards in the Ligue 1 in past seasons may be set to return to his parent club Lyon this summer, for failing to meet expectations after his loan move to Atletico Madrid.
The Frenchman who plays for the French U21 team made the move to Diego Simeone’s side on a six-month loan deal in January with an initial €1.5m loan fee paid to the Ligue 1 club.
The move to join the Rojiblancos means that the club have a potential €33.5m purchase option on him, but are not willing to activate it as the 2021/22 football season draws close.
Moussa Dembele has made just 2 substitute appearances in La Liga since his arrival and this totals 40 minutes of action on the pitch for the Frenchman. This development is a pointer that he may not get a permanent deal at Atletico Madrid.
Regardless, reports from Marca suggest that the Frenchman will be given a chance to make a case for himself on the ptich for the side before the end of the season.
Meanwhile, the remaining La Liga games for Simeone’s men have 10 games left and these games have been described as 10 finals.
The Madrid outfit now have a sole focus on the league title although they are being hotly chased by Barcelona and Real Madrid.
