Bayern Munich giants edged closer to the 2020/21 Bundesliga title after Jamal Musiala, 18, was on hand with a brace that ensured that the Bavarian giants ran out 3:2 winners away to Wolfsburg.
The defending champions have now established a 7-point gap at the top after Julian Nagelmann’s RB Leipzig failed to beat Hoffenheim but drew 0:0 at home on Friday.
Bayern are unarguably the owners of the German Bundesliga, because, irrespective of how poorly they start, when the going gets tough and the pressure is upped, they find a way to deliver.
However, this is not the case with their rivals who eventually end up flattering to deceive. RB Leipzig looked good to go in the race but have faltered recently, while popular rivals Borussia Dortmund are in the fight of their lives for a UEFA Champions League place.
Bayern Munich are on course for a ninth consecutive Bundesliga title and there is no better explanation for owning a league than this. The Bavarian giants had to bounce back from their elimination from the UCL by PSG in midweek.
They went two goals up through Musiala and Eric Maxim Choupo-Moting in the early minutes of the game before Wout Weghorst pulled one back for the home side. Musiala scored the third and now has 4 Bundesliga goals this season.
Maxmillian Phillip scored a second for the home side but they couldn’t get anything from the game. Meanwhile, Hansi Flick saw defender Lucas Hernandez limp off late on in the game.
It’s five games to go in the Bundesliga and Bayern just have to consolidate on their top spot. Going by how the Bundesliga title race has panned out in close to a decade, it’s unimaginable to see the Bavarian giants losing out on the title at this stage.
And more so, as inconsistencies continue to cloud the chasing pack.
