Paris-Saint Germain forward Neymar could be at risk of missing this weekend’s UEFA Champions League final after appearing to break UEFA’s coronavirus protocols.
The Ligue 1 champions thrashed Bundesliga’s RB Leipzig 3 nil in the first of the two clashes of the 2019/20 UEFA Champions League semifinal stage in Lisbon. After the game, the Brazil international swapped shirts with opponent Marcel Halstenberg.
Before the return of the Champions League, reports indicated that any player who swapped shirts after fixtures would need to be put in self-isolation for 12 days and this would effectively rule Neymar out of the final if it is upheld.
Meanwhile, PSG now await the winner of other semifinal game between Lyon and Bayern Munich ahead of the final which will take place on Sunday. Bayern are overwhelming favorites to progress to the final although Lyon have proven to be giant-killers in the competition.
PSG emerged victoriously over RB Leipzig on the night through goals from Marquinhos, Angel Di Maria, and Juan Bernat. Neymar was wasteful in the game but stood out as one of PSG’s best performers on the night. He hit the woodwork twice and was a menace to RB Leipzig’s defense.
The Brazilian has scored 3 goals and provided 4 assists in his 6 appearances in the UCL this term and will be looking to help PSG win the UCL for the first time in their history.
