Arsenal could be without Mesut Ozil when they face Liverpool at Anfield on Saturday evening in the Premier League.
The German was handed starts in the Gunners’ last two games but was withdrawn at half-time in the game against Brighton.
Ozil trained on Friday with his teammates but was not pictured with the squad on arrival at Merseyside for the crunch encounter.
Reports suggest that the German complained of a pain in his knee after the training session, and Unai Emery is not willing to risk his star man in the game.
It can be recalled that Ozil was absent from action for about six weeks before returning for the games against Burnley and Brighton.
Meanwhile, Unai Emery still has more injury concerns ahead of the Anfield test as the likes of Hector Bellerin, Nacho Monreal, and Shkodran Mustafi will be made to undergo late fitness tests before a decision will be made on if they will play a part for the Gunners.
Bellerin was absent from Arsenal’s last three games while Mustafi was sidelined by a hamstring injury. Monreal played no part in the 1 all draw against Brighton.
Unai Emery will be hoping that the trio will be passed fit to play for the Gunners against Jurgen Klopp’s Liverpool.
