According to reports from Gazzetta dello Sport, the only midfielder that may remain at AC Milan will be Lucas Paqueta. It still remains unclear who will partner the Brazilian in the middle of the park next season.
The likes of Riccardo Montolivo, Andrea Bertolacci, and Jose Mauri are set to leave the club as their contracts reach expiration at the end of the season.
Mauri was the most impressive amongst the trio but couldn’t earn a renewal while the others were frozen away from the team.
The departure of the trio will see Milan save a combined 10.6 million euros gross in salaries.
This is not all though, as Tiemoue Bakayoko’s salary could be added. Bakayoko who finished the season strongly with Milan has a 35 million price tag that the management has frowned upon.
The likes of Lucas Biglia and Kessie also have unclear futures at the club as it could depend on how the season ends.
It is believed that the guaranteed 50 million for a place in the UEFA Champions League could play a major part in the club’s decision.
Kessie still has a lot of room for improvement but Biglia’s situation is entirely different.
It is believed that the Argentine is not a proper reflection of the ideal identity of Gazidis’ line although his experience could play a part in his future at the San Siro.
It seems like he could be offered a contract renewal with lower wages.
