Real Madrid reportedly set to offload Hazard

Rumors are rife that Real Madrid are ready to cut their losses as they prepare to let go of Eden Hazard. The 30-year-old attacker joined Los Blancos from Chelsea in 2019 in a deal worth £103.5m.

The Belgian was highly rated at the time and had established himself as one of the most exciting players in the Premier League and Europe as a whole.

However, he has failed to replicate his Chelsea form at Madrid and therefore failed to live up to expectations with his time at Real Madrid thus far being blighted by recurring injuries under Zinedine Zidane.

It was hoped that Hazard would help in replacing Cristiano Ronaldo after his departure to Juventus but this hasn’t been the case. The Belgium international has made just 40 appearances for Los Merengues in all competitions and has just 4 goals to his name.

The Belgian was also on the pitch and was underwhelming in Real Madrid’s elimination from the semifinals of the 2020/21 UEFA Champions League by his former club Chelsea after a convincing 2 nil defeat at Stamford Bridge on Wednesday night.

Therefore, Marca have now claimed that the La Liga giants are preparing to offload the Belgian. The likes of Isco and Marcelo could also join him in leaving as they are also set to be put up for sale at the opening of the summer transfer window.

Regardless of the club’s quest to offload some of these first-team players, they’ll face some difficulties due to the high salaries that these stars command as only a few clubs can afford them. This is also made worse by the fact that the players in question could be already past their best.

Whether this is a rumor or not concerning Hazard’s future at Real Madrid, this comes as a major surprise as very few saw this coming for a player of his status as at the time he made the move from Chelsea.
