Roma make €17 million bid to sign Smalling from Man United
AS Roma have made a new offer of €17 million to Manchester United for the permanent acquisition of English center-back Chris Smalling.
The England international is currently at Roma on a season-long loan from Man United where he has impressed with brilliant defensive performances.
Reports were rife that representatives of the Stadio Olimpico outfit had been in negotiations with Manchester United over a possible transfer of Smalling but a deal was yet to be finalized.
However, Calciomercato have confirmed that Roma have launched a new bid for the defender. The new offer of €17 million is pretty close to Man United’s €20 million valuation of Chris Smalling. Therefore, they’ve met his asking price after initially paying €3 million to secure the player’s loan.
Smalling has played 16 games for Roma in all competitions and has scored 2 goals and provided 1 assist.
