Premier League legend Alan Shearer has suggested that Chelsea star Ruben Loftus-Cheek should consider a summer exit from Chelsea unless he is handed a prominent role in the side. According to Alan Shearer, the England international is too talented to be wasting away on the bench at Stamford Bridge.
Ruben Loftus-Cheek scored his 5th goal of the season for the Blues when he came on as a sub to find the back of the net for Chelsea’s second goal against Fulham in the West London derby at Stamford Bridge on Sunday.
However, he is yet to be handed a start in the Premier League, as he’s had to play second fiddle to the likes of Mateo Kovacic and Ross Barkley.
According to The Sun, Shearer said: ‘Ruben will have a big decision to make at the end of the season’
‘He scored against Fulham – just like he did the last time he played in the Premier League against Burnley back in October.’
‘But despite doing very well every time he does play, he is just not getting enough game time.’
‘Loftus-Cheek had a good time on loan at Crystal Palace last season and then went to the World Cup with England.’
‘I understood his decision to come back and give it a go at Chelsea because a new manager had taken over.’
‘But he will have to wait and see if he plays more between now and the end of the season, otherwise, he will really have to consider his future in the summer.’
Chelsea were average on the day but got the goals needed through Pedro and Cheek.
