Team news – Chelsea travel to face Bournemouth. Who starts?

Frank Lampard has confirmed that his side will miss several key players when they face Bournemouth in the Premier League on Saturday, as he looks for his players to bounce back from the crushing UCL defeat to Bayern Munich at Stamford Bridge.

Chelsea will be without 4 players and this will likely affect the formation that will be deployed by the English manager. The likes of Christian Pulisic, Callum Hudson-Odoi, N’Golo Kante and Tammy Abraham are on the sidelines for this game.

Pulisic has not played for the Blues since New Year’s Day and is battling to recover from a groin injury. Hudson-Odoi is recovering from a hamstring injury while Kante is working on recovering from an adductor injury. He added that Tammy Abraham’s condition is frustrating as the striker appeared on course for a return to the starting lineup only to get injured again.

“Pulisic is still injured and Kante is still injured,” said Lampard.

“Abraham is injured with the same problem as before.

“We’re trying to find a solution with him.

“It’s frustrating that he has come in and out somewhat but he’s injured for tomorrow.

“Callum is another one who isn’t fit this weekend.”

Regardless, the return of Ruben Loftus-Cheek is a slight boost for Lampard. He was an unused substitute in last weekend’s defeat of Tottenham Hotspur and while he missed out on the squad to face Bayern, he’ll likely get some minutes against Bournemouth.

“Ruben is in the squad again for tomorrow,” Lampard said.

“We haven’t had great opportunity to get Ruben as much game time as much as we want. I felt against Tottenham he could be an impact of some sort in the game but Bayern was a different animal of a game so I took a different decision for him to get some good training in during the week.

“It would mean a lot to have him back. It’s a lonely place being out for that long. He was in a very good run of form last year. I thought he was playing really well and you could see his development and confidence in getting in the first team.

“He hasn’t kicked a ball for me but with the ability he’s got, he’s one of the most exciting English midfield players in the Premier League because of the attributes he has so we all want him back.”

Meanwhile, the starting eleven for the Blues has been the same in the last 2 games and is expected to remain so with Olivier Giroud leading the line., Caballero likely to maintain his spot with support from Cesar Azpilicueta, Andreas Christensen, and Antonio Rudiger in central defense.

Ross Barkley and Mason Mount may start on the bench with Willian and Pedro likely to be deployed either side of Olivier Giroud.
